Henrique Carvalho
​

Assistant Professor 

Picture
Henrique is an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Meteorology. He obtained his B.Sc. from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Texas A&M University (USA). He did a postdoc at North Carolina State University before joining the Department of Soil Science at the University of Manitoba. His current research focuses on studying the cycling of energy and mass in agricultural systems using micrometeorological techniques.

Emily Robb

​M.Sc. Student

Originally hailing from Alexander, Manitoba, Emily is a member of the Métis community. She received her B.Sc. in Agroecology from University of Manitoba in 2025, with a dual minor in Soil Science and Crop Protection, and is currently President of the Soil Science Graduate Students’ Association within the Department of Soil Science. Her master’s thesis focuses on characterizing the carbon and water dynamics of cover crop utilization within annual cropping systems in the Red River Valley.

Julia Beechinor

​M.Sc. Student

Julia graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba in 2025, with a B.Sc. in Agroecology and a minor in Soil Science. Her M.Sc. research investigates the effects of perennial land conversion on the carbon and water budgets of sandy loam soils in the Ste. Claude area. She enjoys stopping at Ma’s drive-in when visiting her sites.

Nathan Lamb

M.Sc. Student

Nathan is a graduate of the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources at the University of Manitoba, obtaining a B.Sc. in Environmental Science with a focus in Environmental Toxicology and a minor in Soil Science. His M.Sc. research focuses on radiation use efficiency (RUE) in annually cropped systems.

Shayla Trippier

​Lab Technician

Shayla graduated from the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources with a B.Sc. in Physical Geography (Atmospheric Science, Honours) and a minor in Physics & Astronomy. She is a technician in the Micromet Lab and works on daily data processing and quality-checks, data management, site maintenance, and instrument calibrations.

M.Sc. Student

Rachel received her B.Sc. in Agroecology from the University of Manitoba in 2025, with a minor in Soil Science. Her M.Sc. research investigates the carbon and water dynamics of cropping systems under long-term perennial management in comparison to annual management.
